The final solution
The words "Final Solution" (Endlösung in German) comes from the phrase "Final Solution to the Jewish Question". This was the language used by Nazis as code for the Holocaust. The Jewish Question (or Jewish problem) was the presence of Jews in Europe, and the belief by the Nazis that Jews polluted European society. The final solution, after deportation and concentration in ghettos, was the extermination of every Jew in Nazi-controlled Europe, either by mass slaughter, starvation, or death from overwork in slave labor.
